While aircraft and special forces teams prowled the desert searching for Saddam's feared SCUD launchers, it fell to the crews of MIM-104 Patriot Missile Batteries to intercept those that were were able to successfully launch. Lessons learned from it's employment during the Gulf War would greatly inform future systems, such as the Israeli-built Iron Dome.
